60-Day Soil Reset for Horticulture Growers
After your vegetable harvest, before your next planting. A cover crop blend that improves soil cover, root activity, and nutrient capture in a single short window.
Pre-inoculated with SeedStart. The first blend in the Living Roots between-seasons system.
The Window Between Crops
After an intensive vegetable cycle, soil is depleted. Structure breaks down. Nutrients leach. Pathogens build up. Bare soil erodes. Most growers leave this window empty, or worse, leave the field exposed.
That 45-75 day gap between crops is not dead time. It is where soil health is either lost or recovered. A well-designed cover crop turns that window into active regeneration.
What happens when soil sits bare between crops:
How It Works
Three steps. One between-season window.
Harvest Your Crop
Clear your vegetable crop as usual. The sooner the cover crop goes in after harvest, the more of the window you use.
Plant the Blend
Broadcast or drill the pre-inoculated cover crop blend. SeedStart biology is already on-seed. No extra inoculation step needed.
Terminate and Plant
At 60 days, terminate mechanically and plant your next crop into soil with better structure, more root channels, and active biology.
Engineered, Not Assembled
This is not a bag of mixed seeds. A 7-species blend, where every species is selected for a specific function within the 60-day window. Together they form a system. Each one doing a job the others cannot.
Nitrogen Fixation
Legumes that convert atmospheric nitrogen into plant-available form, reducing the need for synthetic nitrogen in the next crop.
Deep Rooting
Tap-rooted species that break compaction layers and open channels for water infiltration and root growth in the following planting.
Biomass Production
Fast-growing species that produce ground cover quickly, protecting soil from erosion and adding organic matter on termination.
Nutrient Scavenging
Species that capture residual nutrients from the previous crop, holding them in the root zone instead of letting them leach.
Weed Competition
Dense, fast-canopy species that suppress weed germination during the between-season window.
Fast Establishment
Selected for rapid germination and early vigor within the 60-day window. Every species in this blend earns its place by establishing quickly.
Why SeedStart on Cover Crops
Most cover crop seed is sold plain. You get seed. You plant it. You hope the soil biology is enough to support establishment.
Living Roots cover crop blends come pre-inoculated with SeedStart, our seed treatment designed for easier establishment and early vigor. Biology is already on-seed when you plant. No extra step. No extra product. Just coat and go.
Biology on-seed
SeedStart is applied before you receive the blend. No mixing, no extra inoculation step.
Easier establishment
Supports faster germination and early root development, especially when your window is short.
Less friction for the grower
One bag. One step. Plant it and move on to planning your next crop.
Connected to the Living Roots system
The same SeedStart biology used across our crop programs. Cover cropping becomes part of the system, not a separate practice.

The First Blend in an Expanding System
This post-horticulture blend is the starting point. Living Roots is developing between-seasons cover crop programs for additional cropping systems, including corn, rice, and drought-tolerant situations.
Each blend will be designed around a specific use case, window, and set of functional requirements. Not one-size-fits-all.
Common Questions
As soon as possible after clearing your vegetable crop. The sooner the cover crop goes in, the more of the 60-day window you use. Ideally within 3-5 days of harvest.
The blend is designed for 45-75 day windows. At 45 days you will still get meaningful root activity, nitrogen fixation, and ground cover. You may see less total biomass, but the soil biology benefits are still significant.
Mechanical termination. Mow, roll, or incorporate into the soil before your next planting. The blend is selected for easy termination at the 60-day mark without requiring herbicides.
This first blend is designed for tropical and subtropical horticulture systems. If you are growing vegetables in Thailand or Southeast Asia with a short between-season window, this is built for you. Tell us your situation and we can advise.
